Hey, House, Keep Pell Strong!

CALL TO ACTION FROM THE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION OF ST. LOUIS

A Win in the Senate — Now It’s the House’s Turn to Protect Pell

We all spoke up, and the Senate listened. Thanks to your advocacy, the Senate rejected dangerous cuts to Pell. But the House could still gut eligibility unless we act now. The latest Senate bill protects Pell Grant eligibility and secures $10.5 billion in sustainable funding for students. That’s a huge step forward. But the fight isn’t over.

The House still supports harmful cuts that would limit those who qualify for Pell, including students in Missouri. As the two chambers begin to negotiate, your voice is critical to ensure the Senate’s version wins out.

Subject: Support the Senate Bill — Protect Pell Students

Email Body:

Dear [Member of Congress],

I’m writing to urge you to support the Pell Grant provisions in the Senate’s version of the reconciliation bill.

Unlike the House proposal, the Senate bill protects low-income students by avoiding harmful cuts like redefining full-time enrollment to 15 credits, eliminating aid for part-time students, and capping financial aid based on a national average cost.

These House provisions would block thousands of hardworking students in [INSERT STATE] from getting the support they need to stay in school, especially those who work or care for their families.

Please support the Senate’s approach to keeping Pell strong and accessible.

Thank you,
