The new FAFSA: We’re ready.

Jess DewesAdvising, Financial Aid, News

Completing The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be stressful for students and families. The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis and its team of expert Student Advisors have the professional experience and knowledge necessary to support students and families through the FAFSA and related financial aid processes. Student Advisors listen, acknowledge, empathize, and provide objective information and support, while always leaving important financial decisions to the students and their families. As you prepare for the 2024-25 FAFSA, the Foundation wants you to be informed, be ready, and know you are supported.

Be Informed

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and it is the primary application for federal student aid, as well as a significant portion of state and institutional aid. All eligible students are encouraged to complete the form as soon as possible upon its opening in December. Students who are not eligible, or unsure about their eligibility, to file the FAFSA have options. The Scholarship Foundation, and the Student Advising team, stand ready to assist with identifying other aid options, discuss affordability, and apply for The Scholarship Foundation’s many grant and interest-free loan programs. The Foundation has a number of resources available on this website. In addition, the Foundation offers free workshops to support those applying for college. Check out the full 2023-24 workshop schedule here.

Be Ready

It’s not too soon to prepare for the opening of the FAFSA. First, the student and their parent(s) will need to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. The Foundation recommends students and families create their FSA IDs at least 3-5 days in advance of completing the FAFSA, to ensure identities have been verified and IDs are fully functional. For more information, recommendations on setting up the ID correctly, and a handy place to keep track of all the important details, please check out our FSA ID One-Pager. After creating IDs, students and their families can begin gathering the recommended documents for the 2024-25 FAFSA.

Know You Are Supported

The Foundation recognizes that the FAFSA can generate stress, anxiety, and confusion. Our Student Advising Team is here to help! They are ready and available to listen to your questions and concerns and, of course, support successful completion of the 2024-25 FAFSA. To schedule a free appointment with a Student Advisor, contact The Scholarship Foundation at info@sfstl.org or (314) 725-7990.
