The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis Announces New Equifax Finance Fellowship

The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis announces the opening of a five-year finance fellowship program, which will award $60,000 annually in scholarship grants to cover educational costs, and $20,000 annually in paid internships to Scholarship Foundation students studying the fields of business management, economics, and finance. The new program was made possible through a gift commitment of $400,000 from Equifax.

The Equifax Finance Fellowship will seek to transform the finance industry, increase financial literacy, and enhance economic empowerment by developing scholars who have direct experience as affected individuals. The fellowship will significantly support students’ academic study through scholarship grants of up to $10,000 per student for college expenses. The fellowship will also provide paid internships, in which individuals will: strengthen and apply research skills, prepare pilot demonstrations of curriculum and other interventions to strengthen financial literacy among affected youth, and design plans for dissemination of learning and models for replication.

Prior Equifax grants supported The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis and nonprofit partners (Prosperity Connection, Kingdom House, and KIPP) to develop and pilot a financial literacy and capability curriculum designed by and for youth and young adults.

The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis will accept applications for the new Equifax Finance Fellowship, as well as its interest-free, fee-free student loan program, from now through April 16, 2018. All awards are renewable annually if students continue to meet qualifying criteria.
