The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis lost a longtime friend and contributor when Mary G. Bard passed away in 2021. Thankfully, Mary’s legacy lives on in the work of the Foundation through a generous bequest provided by her estate. During her lifetime, Mary came to know the Foundation through recommendations from her beloved Second Presbyterian Church friends when she was seeking to support community nonprofits. Always gracious and observant of organizational updates, Mary’s strongest interests took shape in commitment to the interest-free loan program and to students who had arrived in the United States as children and were met with no path to citizenship and constant threat to their continued education. A historian and archivist throughout her later life, Mary was devoted to educational opportunity. It is an honor to assure that her wishes are met in the strengthening of the interest-free loan program and among students who are recent immigrants
