Media Landscape Intern

Shur is seeking an intern for a media outreach project focused on the St. Louis region, as well as the state of Missouri. The intern will conduct a study of local and statewide media outlets, with emphasis placed on identifying platforms that elevate community voices, promote financial capability, and highlight the unique experiences residents in St. Louis City and County are having with student loan management and repayment. Interns will contribute to the development of a media plan and segmented contact list that will be used as part of the launch of “Shur Powered by Edward Jones” – a free-to-borrow platform that in 2025 will help professionals with student loans succeed in their repayment journey and pathway to wealth building.
NFCC Intern
Host Organization: National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC)
Internship Description: NFCC is in the early stages of building a multilevel financial literacy tool specifically geared towards low-to-moderate-income individuals who are new to the financial market. The tool would first teach important financial skills before unlocking access to different financial products like checking and savings accounts. The internship will focus on research and early planning to help us design the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) — which means the smallest, simplest version of the marketplace we can build to launch it and start helping people. NFCC would make adjustments to improve the product over time.
By the end of the summer, the intern will complete a requirements document – a clear plan that explains what products should be included at the first two levels of the marketplace, how users will move through it, and what financial skills or training they’ll need at each step.
