My tasks have been designed to provide insight on the functions of a nonprofit organization, which I intend to found in the near future. I am most excited about the Rams partnership project because I am able to use my creativity and skills as tools to ‘pay it forward’ and give back to my community. As youth advocate Marian Wright Edelman stated, ‘Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.’ I look forward to the personal growth and professional development I will gain from this experience.
During fall 2014, Dontaleisha participated in the Scholarship Foundation’s paid Community Internship Program, a collaborative partnership between the Foundation, Equifax and community agencies.
Dontaleisha recently graduated from Howard University with a Master of Social Work degree. She interned with the Diversity Awareness Partnership in the areas of programmatic support, education and training facilitation, development, evaluation, and research. In her work, she has been able to connect with corporate donors, emerging leaders, and a network of young professionals. She will be working on a project with the St. Louis Rams and two local high schools to educate students about diversity and inclusion.
