Without a loan from The Scholarship Foundation, I might not have had the opportunity to get the education that has allowed me to better myself and my family. For this, I am extremely grateful.

With a loan from The Scholarship Foundation, I was able to put myself through undergraduate school at Saint Louis University. In 2007, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance. I was able to land a job in investment banking right out of school, which allowed me to make payments on my Scholarship Foundation loan each month. The first few years out of college were a struggle for me financially, but as time went on, I was able to move up at my job, pay off some of the other debts I had incurred in school, and improve my position. Over time, I discovered that several of my close friends and family members also had loans from The Scholarship Foundation. Some of them had to defer making payments because they were going to graduate school or were having trouble finding work in this down economy. They explained that the Foundation was working with them and had been more understanding than other entities. I realized how lucky I was to be in a position where I did not have to worry about making my next payment. I also began to think that many of the other students who received loans from The Scholarship Foundation might not be in a position to make timely payments and having to defer them could jeopardize future scholarships. Being a finance major, I realized it was not in my best interest to pay off my zero-interest loan early. However, I decided that was precisely what I wanted to do because I was financially able to do so. By paying off the balance of my loan a year and a half early, I was able to help the Foundation help more students and show my gratitude. Without a loan from The Scholarship Foundation, I might not have had the opportunity to get the education that has allowed me to better myself and my family. For this, I am extremely grateful.
