I’m waking up today speechless at what a community of determined young people, proud families, generous contributors, devoted educators, and fearless advocates can do. Though I’ve had 35 years of mornings like this, I’m glad you’ve joined me on this one.
Today, 537 well-qualified students HAVE what they need to head into a new school year. Note, by glancing at the table above:
- They come from households providing, on average, $1,275 per year toward their education.
- It’s costing an average of $33,608 per year for these students to attend schools which are public, private, in-state, out-of-state, HBCU and PWI, small and large.
- Our community is sending them with $6,331,435 in real money and inestimable quantities of love, guidance, and encouragement.
There’s nothing extraordinary about this day in St Louis. It’s horrible-hot and there’s much to be done, as always. Yet, I am completely amazed.
