Advising Discussion Guide – Summer 2020

Jamie WilgerAlerts, News

COVID-19 has not only impacted the health, safety, and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities, it has caused tremendous economic disruption. There are many questions students need to ask of themselves, their institutions, and their finances.

The Scholarship Foundation does not have all the answers; however, it does have a long tradition of putting students first, and a commitment to an informed decision-making process by students and for students.

As students try to finalize plans to enroll or return to their colleges, they must consider their education and goals—past, present, and future. The Student Advising Team at The Scholarship Foundation has written an Advising Discussion Guide for Summer, 2020. The purpose of this guide is to help advisors, counselors, and others working directly with prospective and current college students for the 2020-21 school year in navigating their decision-making process.

The guide includes key questions and considerations unique to this moment in:

  • Academics
  • Finances
  • Basic Needs
  • Health and Safety
  • Parallel Plans
  • Deferment

Because of the evolving circumstances around us, there will be more questions and many conversations will be required. This is the first “real time advisory” the Foundation will make on the topic of advising students this summer and into the fall. If you would like to sign up to receive these advisories in your email, please subscribe here.
