The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis seeks a Student Advisor to join its advising team. Advisors work directly with students and provide objective information to support informed decision-making by students, for themselves. Student Advisors must understand adolescent and early adult development and possess the ability to listen and empathize. Successful candidates will understand the work because they have lived experiences to draw from and demonstrate a commitment to racial and economic equity.
This position is professional level, exempt, and full-time. Student Advisors spend approximately sixty percent of their time in the community, visiting schools and partner programs. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- providing counsel to students and families planning for or currently enrolled in higher education,
- participating in case staffing with school personnel and colleagues at community organizations,
- serving as a source of resource information for students; delivering workshops to students and families on financial aid, FAFSA, and college affordability,
- maintaining knowledge on financial aid trends through research and collaboration with colleagues.
The Student Advisor will be expected to build relationships with a diverse student population, as well as colleagues within the organization and with community partners. A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a related field, as is experience working directly with individuals with complex lives and limited resources. The work of a Student Advisor requires compassion, the ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population, and excellent writing and speaking skills. Salary range for this position is $45,814-$64,139.
