The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis seeks a Student Advisor. Student Advisors work directly with students and provide objective information to support informed decision-making by students, for themselves. Student Advisors must understand adolescent and early adult development and possess the ability to listen and empathize. Student Advisors desire to advance equity in college access and attainment.
This position is professional level, exempt, and full-time. Position responsibilities include: providing counsel to students and families planning for or currently enrolled in higher education; participating in case staffing with school personnel and colleagues at community organizations; serving as a source of resource information for students; delivering workshops to students and families on financial aid, FAFSA, and college affordability; and maintaining knowledge on financial aid trends through research and collaboration with colleagues.
Successful candidates will understand the work because they have lived it themselves. A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a related field, as is experience working directly with individuals with complex lives and limited resources. The work of a Student Advisor requires compassion, the ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population, and excellent writing and speaking skills. The salary range for this position is $42,620-$61,798.
