The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis recently launched Future Forward, the organization’s new 529 College Savings Plan Scholarship Program, in which the Foundation will make available to 120 eighth-graders up to $1,400 total per student over the next 5 years. The initial deposit made by the Foundation in each account will be $500.  Future deposits will be earned by students as they complete college access benchmarks.  The Scholarship Foundation has partnered with MOST-Missouri’s 529 College Savings plan to create privately-funded scholarship accounts for these students.

A program kickoff was held on October 7 for eighth-grade students currently enrolled in and attending De La Salle Middle School, Marian Middle School, and the Teen Leadership Program at Wyman. School faculty and families were also in attendance to celebrate. Guest speakers included Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel and City of St. Louis Treasurer Tishaura Jones.

“The Scholarship Foundation has long worked for the students of St. Louis, providing them ever more important access to higher education,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “I am proud to work with them on this new partnership, helping students start a MOST 529 account while obtaining the skills they need to be successful in the pursuit of their dreams.”

The event, held at Marian Middle School, helped students and their families familiarize themselves with MOST-Missouri’s 529 College Savings Plan and learn how to take full advantage of their participation in the Future Forward Program.
