FAFSA IRS DRT: What Now?? Urgent Webinar presented by The Scholarship Foundation

sfstl-adminNews

On March 3, at the height of financial aid applications and critical deadlines, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) shut down. The IRS DRT allows student and parent tax filers to electronically transfer processed tax information from the IRS into the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); IRS DRT greatly simplifies the financial aid application process, reduces errors, and reduces the likelihood of being selected for verification, a process that can significantly impact a student’s ability to access necessary dollars to pay for school. Taking action, The Scholarship Foundation joined with the National College Access Network (NCAN) to facilitate a webinar on 3/15/17 to provide information to counselors, college access providers, and other direct-service practitioners on how to support students who must file a FAFSA and meet quickly approaching FAFSA deadlines.
